Overall the best selling thriller film is The Dark Knight as it made the most money in the Box Office. It also had the largest budget for production compared to the other thriller films; Casino Royale, which was released before The Dark Knight in 2006 and Captain America: The Winter Soldier which was released in 2014.
The success of The Dark Knight is linked to both the story and also the cast which can help attract a larger audience, as well known stars bring their own audiences to the film - fans of stars are most likely to see the film if their star is in the film.
